We will take a look at what this vacuum can offer you and whether it is worth the slightly higher price it comes at.

Shark Rocket Ultralight Upright Review

The Shark Rocket Ultralight Upright comes with a good swivel steering system that allows for easier cleaning, reaching around difficult areas and can be used too on upholstery and the ceiling. It is light and easy for almost anyone to use and as well as picking up cobwebs, dust and debris is good for pet hair too. It has powerful suction making it stand out from several other models with similar design by other manufacturers. Here is a closer look at some of the key features.

Dimensions and weight

Its dimensions are 22.8 inches by 10 inches by 31.9 inches and its weight is just 7 and a half pounds. It is a cleaner anyone can lift and move around, it can be mounted away after cleaning with one hand without a lot of effort or struggle. It does live up to the Ultralight part of its name and that slim design means it is easy to store and does not take up a lot of room on the wall.

A closer look at its suction power

Shark HV302

The Shark Rocket Ultralight Upright HV302 stands out on the market due to its excellent suction power and that is certainly something consumers comment on in positive reviews of the product. This strong suction means its cleaning path leaves nothing behind so there is no need to go over the same area cleaned and it has continuous power so there are no problems with a loss of suction after using for extended cleaning times. The input power is a good 500 watts which gives it the power that is needed but is still a low consumption so is good for users thinking about their energy consumption and the environment.

Other features

Shark Rocket Ultralight UprightThe dust capacity of this Shark Rocket stick vacuum is 0.118 gallons. This is not a high capacity dust cup for a vacuum cleaner and is on the average to low side for lightweight cleaners like this. It can handle 2 rooms before it needs to be emptied, that might go up to 3 rooms if they are on the small side. This is not the best vacuum if you have large rooms and a lot of them unless you do not mind having to pause your cleaning to empty the dust cup now and then. If you have a smaller home or smaller jobs in mind for this type of cleaner though, it will be fine. It also does not have HEPA filtration so is not the best choice for allergy sufferers. The filters are of a good quality though and are washable.

It also comes with a few accessories including a dusting brush, crevice tool, pet upholstery tool, brush for dusting and a hard floor dust away attachment. There is a bag to keep the accessories in and a mount to put on a wall in a cupboard for when the Shark HV302 is being stored away. It can be turned into a handheld for those small jobs and the stairs, or for car cleaning even. When you want clean above you the floor nozzle can be removed and there is an extension wand for reaching further up or for reaching further under furniture.

It comes with a limited warranty that covers workmanship and material defects for 5 years but that does not cover issues caused by neglect or misuse by owners. If you go direct through Sharkclean.com though there is the potential of a VIP lifetime warranty as well as priority processing and no charge for shipping. Some customers get additional offers of extra tools and even a steam mop that has a retail value of $100.

Cleaning with the Shark Rocket Ultralight Upright on Hard Floors and Carpeted

The swivel steering is something that really makes this vacuum easy to maneuver. You can move around in a variety of directions with minimal effort allowing you to get to all those nooks and harder to reach places. You do not have to move yourself around as much with this machine so the cleaning is easier on you physically too, especially with it being light too. But that lightness does mean some deeper carpeting will need more work and you do have to change the brushroll to the dusting attachment to take care of your hard flooring. The standard head does not work well on hard floors with larger particles.

There are 2 settings to switch between, one for your carpets and rugs, and another for wood floors, tiles, granite and such. If you have to deal with a lot of larger particle cleaning on hard flooring like cat litter for example, this is not the best option for you. It can handle pet hair but not the larger debris pets can leave behind. There are other better options like the Dyson DC59 but that comes at a higher price too. If budget is a big concern then this is fine, you may just have to get the hose out now and then for the bits that were not picked up with the first clean.

There are some really good things about the Shark Rocket Ultralight Upright that make it worth a close look if you are shopping for a light and maneuverable vacuum cleaner. It has great suction power, good accessories, some good key features and is affordable compared to top market contenders like those offered by Dyson. There are actually 3 models in the Ultralight line and out of them the 77VGM pulls ahead just slightly. If you have a larger home, need something for allergy sufferers and do not want to have to change the brushroll each time you need to clean a hard floor this is not the one for you.
